Dr. Takoudes graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts before receiving a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. He received his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed his internship in General Surgery and residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.
While in medical school, Dr. Takoudes completed a National Institutes of Health sponsored basic science research fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery as well as being a member of both the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy and the Triological Society.
Dr. Takoudes is and Attending Surgeon at Yale New Haven Hospital and the Hospital of Saint Raphael. He is the Consulting Otolaryngologist to Gaylord Hospital specializing in the treatment of trauma and long-term tracheotomy patients.
His office-based practice focuses on all aspects of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, including pediatrics, sinus, laryngeal and ear disease, and tumors of the head and neck. He has special expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of laryngeal reflux and swallowing disorders. He has lectured and published extensively on these topics and performs office-based swallowing exams and Transnasal Esophagoscopy.
